Safety in Dutch Meat Sector Secondary to Economic Issues

The Investigation Council for Safety has concluded that the risks of safety in the meat sector have become too large. Therefore the safety of the meat is secondary to economic considerations. The Dutch Food and Commodities Authority (NVWA) will start unannounced controls to investigate meat fraud. It will collaborate with the prosecution, customs, Europol and Interpol. The government says there may not be any risks for public health and food safety.
