Rabbi: Extremist Parliamentarian not Welcome at Auschwitz Memorial Meeting

Rabbi Raphael Evers of NIK, the largest Dutch religious community organization, announced that the leftwing socialist parliamentarian Harry van Bommel would not be welcome at the upcoming Auschwitz memorial meeting. Evers said that Van Bommel had participated in an anti-Israel demonstration where participants carried pictures of former Iranian leader Khomeiny, former Hamas leader Yassin and Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, who all deny the the Jews’ right to a state. During the demonstration Van Bommel called for an intifada, which for the Palestinians means violence against the Jews. He did not do anything against people a few rows behind him who were shouting ‘Hamas, Hamas, Jews to the gas.’http://www.parool.nl/parool/nl/4/AMSTERDAM/article/detail/111521/2009/01/08/Van-Bommel-niet-welkom-bij-Auschwitz-herdenking.dhtml
