Prostitutes’ Interest Association Criticizes Municipality Plans

Metje Blaak, spokesperson of De Rode Draad, the association which represents the interests of prostitutes, stated that the Amsterdam municipality’s plans concerning the Red Light District do little to combat criminality. The plans to reduce the number of “prostitution windows” in the area will not lead to the disappearance of human trade, but will only make them invisible. The municipal council faction of the D66 left of center party agrees with the position of the association.
